When our unschooling experiment started, I scoured the internet looking for real life examples of what unschooling looked like in different families. One of the first blogs I found was Bohemian Bowmans...at the same time, a friend told me I should be reading this blog. Then I found some Twitterati who unschooled and lo and behold I found this chick on Twitter ...same person. AND THEN ...she was on a Christian Unschooling group on Facebook. Coincidence?? I think not.
And then....she said she was writing a book. At first I was skeptical. I mean .."wild things"? Who calls their children that? Sure I have a crew of wild thing..and I thought I had a good handle on parenting them.
But after I read a sample chapter I knew I wanted to read the whole thing and was eager to support it.
Parenting Wild Things is like sitting down with a girlfriend over coffee...latte...iced tea...to vent, commiserate, encourage.
- Jessica writes from the heart.
- She shares wisdom from a very real place where many mothers are at but don't want to be.
- She encourages us to see our children in a new way and to always be examining our own hearts.
- She even, in her gentle way, "redirects" commonly perceived notions of Biblical parenting.
It was an eye opening read that made me want to run home to my babies and speak to them respectfully, listen to them and treat them like aliens. (yes, aliens...read it, you'll get it.)
I am excited to read through it again, this time with others to do the challenges at the end of each chapter.
You can purchase the (reasonably priced) ebook here. Do it, you will not regret it.

Thanks for your kind words!
